About

Howdy! My name is Kevin (legal name Haley) Wilkinson, and I'm a self-taught artist since the past fifteen years of my life.I'm currently working towards gaining experience in the art industry as a concept artist. Though I don't have much experience in having a job other than the odd commission here or there and a couple of volunteer positions, I believe I make up for it with my passion for learning and my art talent. I'm genuinely excited of the potential to create and bring joy to other people's lives through what I do.My current goal is to gain an internship, volunteer position, or entry-level job for concept/game art.I'm a huge fan of horror and the creepy (even if I won't watch or play any jumpscare horror without friends around). I get scared too easily, but that's a burden I'm willing to bear for my love of the grotesque!I also love the fantasy genre, I have a million ideas for things I'd like to work on that are fantastical in nature! (So many game ideas, woof.)Thank you for your time, and have a lovely day.

I spent time working on a volunteer position for this one card game with the code name Project Dynamo.Apparently the project fell apart because too many people lost interest. A shame, since I was enjoying designing the cards and figuring out how to best create new artworks for the game.

The other volunteer project I've worked on is The Tūn-Gāst of Oakshaw by Small Loan Studio, a game that was well on it's way to releasing a demo on Steam, however the director and several others have wound up experiencing life difficulties, and so the project was put on hold. There was recently some word from the director about his struggles, and the plan is to work on it again in the future once he and everybody else is stable.

Rate would be 14USD per portrait. The Polistes' drawings here are done up as colored sketches. Not really what a final product would look like, but I'm not here to show off my rendering ability. I'm here to show off what I can do with emphasizing the bug characters' emotions. My main bits I would focus on for each character's emotions would be:1.) Body language (posing the characters beyond just their heads to help emphasize character movement as they speak as well as emotion),2.) Character accuracy (Both in terms of character design and character personality. I'm aware that as a daredevil journalist, that Polistes may not be the type to cry openly like this. However I believe in character complexity and also these are just sketches, so I don't care if they don't get used for anything), and3.) Perhaps shifts in color to emphasize big emotions (if the dev team is open to such a thing).I'm unsure which exact details to push into anthropomorphism, or exactly how far the eyes especially should be pushed to become more human-esque. However, I'm willing to admit that I don't have all the answers that the dev team would want me to have when I'm not even there working with you guys. I'm open to asking questions if the team is open to answering them. However, from what I can note from the various bug designs and the emphasis on the bugs remaining identifiable as their own species, I can determine at least a couple of different styles to convey emotions with. I can probably come up with even more styles for the eyes of the insects (since I'm only showing off two here). Which style gets chosen would be up to the dev team, obviously.
